Saudia operates first flight offering free high-speed WiFi

Saudia Airlines has introduced its first fully internet-enabled flight, providing free high-speed WiFi to all passengers across every travel class.

The service, launched on November 1, 2025, is currently in a pilot phase, offering travelers connectivity at speeds of up to 300 Mbps. The airline now plans to upgrade the service to 800 Mbps in future rollouts and expand it across its entire fleet.

Passengers on board can use multiple devices seamlessly, switch between them without interruption, and browse the internet, stream content, or attend virtual meetings throughout the flight. Nearly 20 aircraft in Saudia Airlines’ fleet have already been equipped with the system, with plans to extend it to the entire fleet and newly delivered aircraft once all legal procedures are finalized.

According to Saudia, the service will be particularly valuable for business travelers and international passengers who need to stay productive in the air.

Compared to its regional competitors, Saudia’s approach is notable for its inclusivity, offering free high-speed WiFi across all cabins. Emirates introduced free onboard WiFi in May 2023, but full high-speed access is often linked to cabin class or membership in its Skywards loyalty program.

Qatar Airways, on the other hand, has offered high-speed WiFi at speeds of up to 500 Mbps on its Boeing 777 fleet since July 2025, with plans to extend the service to its A350 aircraft, providing strong connectivity to all passengers on those routes.
