The fifth 777-300ERSF for Kalitta Air arrived in Michigan today as the carrier continues to build up its Big Twin fleet.
The 2005-vintage 777-300ERSF (32787, ex-Emirates) flew to Kalitta’s base in Oscoda, Mich. (OSC), from Tel Aviv (TLV) after making a stop in Detroit (DTW). The aircraft belongs to AerCap and is painted in Kalitta colors.
Kalitta told Cargo Facts in September that it expects to operate seven 777-300ERSFs by the end of the year.
The arrival of unit 32787 comes nearly a week after Kalitta launched trans-Pacific flights with the 2005-vintage prototype (32789) and its sistership (32785).
Kalitta, which added the 777-300ERSF to its operations specifications on Oct. 2, became the first carrier to begin service with the new type two weeks ago when it flew the first commercial flight for DHL Express to Atlanta (ATL) from Cincinnati (CVG).
The airline took delivery of four 777-300ERSFs (32792, 32791, 32789 and 32785) on lease from AerCap in September after the FAA and Civil Aviation Authority of Israel approved IAI’s Big Twin conversion program on Sept. 1.
The remaining two units for Kalitta (32793 and 33865) are still at TLV.
