IndiGo announces that new UK service to London-Heathrow will fly from Mumbai

IndiGo has announced plans to launch direct, daily flights between Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport (BOM) and London-Heathrow Airport (LHR) from October 26, 2025.

India’s largest carrier introduced its Manchester service in July 2025. In August 2025, it announced that London-Heathrow would be next.

However, IndiGo has left customers guessing as to exactly where in India the Heathrow service would operate from.

On October 6, 2025, IndiGo confirmed that the flights will be operated using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on wet/damp lease from Norse Atlantic Airways, which include both economy class seating and its business product, IndiGoStretch.

IndiGo described its latest route as the “next big step in its global expansion strategy,” which has also seen the airline launch flights to Amsterdam in the Netherlands.

“Entering Heathrow, a key global hub known for its scale and connectivity, is both a proud milestone and a strategic step forward in strengthening IndiGo’s global footprint. The India-United Kingdom corridor has long held significant relevance,” said Pieter Elbers, CEO at IndiGo.

He added: “After the outstanding response to our longhaul debut flights to Manchester, we are excited to set foot in London, offering more travel options for our customers while reinforcing our commitment to provide seamless connectivity between India and the world.”

London-Heathrow Airport also welcomed the new service, highlighting that it will give passengers access to IndiGo’s extensive network from Mumbai.

“As the UK’s international gateway, this new route will further strengthen the vital ties between the UK and India, creating opportunities for trade, tourism and cultural exchange,” said Ross Baker, Heathrow’s Chief Customer Office. “We look forward to supporting IndiGo’s international growth while offering passengers more choice when travelling between these two world-class cities.”

IndiGo praised Heathrow’s strategic location, which serves as a natural gateway to the UK, Europe and transatlantic routes.

From October 26, 2025, the flights will depart daily from Mumbai at 14:45 and arrive at Heathrow at 19:20. The return flight will leave London at 21:30 and land back in Mumbai at 11:45 the following day.
