Gulfstream launches all-new G300 super-midsize jet

Gulfstream Aerospace has introduced the all-new G300, a super-midsize business jet that will replace the manufacturer’s G280 with a clean-sheet design featuring advanced cockpit technology and passenger amenities.

The announcement came on September 30, 2025, at Gulfstream’s “Discover the Difference” customer event in Savannah, Georgia, where the manufacturer unveiled a full-scale mock-up and revealed the first aircraft in production.

Gulfstream President Mark Burns said the G300 builds on the success of the G280 while introducing improved technology, cabin comfort, and safety features. The aircraft joins the G400, G500, G600, G700, and G800 in the company’s current lineup.

“Fueled by a decade of investment and our future-forward approach, the Gulfstream next-generation fleet offers our customers the most innovative family of aircraft,” Burns said. “We know how important the super-midsize cabin segment is to our customers, so building on the highly successful G280 program, the G300 will reenergize the category with its heightened technology and safety enhancements, alongside the legendary comfort and styling of a Gulfstream.”

Cabin and performance

The G300 seats up to 10 passengers across two cabin areas, in what Gulfstream describes as the longest cabin in its class. The interior is designed around passenger comfort, featuring 10 of the company’s signature panoramic oval windows, low cabin noise levels, and 100 percent fresh air through a plasma ionization air purification system.

The jet offers a maximum range of 3,600 nautical miles when flying at Mach 0.80 and 3,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.84. It can climb to and cruise at 45,000 feet. At 41,000 feet, the cabin altitude is just 4,800 feet, the lowest in the super-midsize class.

In the cockpit, the new Harmony Flight Deck introduces six touch screens paired with what Gulfstream calls Phase-of-Flight intelligence, designed to present pilots with information that adapts to each segment of a trip. A Synthetic Vision-Primary Flight Display provides three-dimensional runway and terrain imagery to improve situational awareness, while a Predictive Landing Performance System shows in real time where the aircraft is projected to stop on the runway.

The G300 is powered by Honeywell engines, paired with Gulfstream’s swept wing. The company says the combination will deliver exceptional performance and fuel efficiency.

Test program underway

According to Gulfstream, development of the G300 is already well advanced. The company has completed nearly 22,000 hours of lab testing in its Integration Test Facility, which includes “iron bird” capability for systems integration. The test center recently marked its first simulated flight, while the first production aircraft has accumulated nearly 2,000 hours of ground tests. Gulfstream is also building two additional test aircraft for the certification program.

Gulfstream developed the G280 in partnership with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), basing the aircraft on an IAI design. The G280 has proven popular in the super-midsize category, offering transatlantic capability in a midsize cabin. With the launch of the G300, Gulfstream is phasing out the G280.

The company’s lineage stretches back to the Gulfstream I, the first purpose-built business airplane, which flew in 1958. Later designs included the large-cabin GII and GIII, the transcontinental GIV, and the long-range GV. More recently, the G650 redefined the ultra-long-range category, while the G700 and G800 extended both range and cabin size. Today, more than 3,300 Gulfstream business jets are in service worldwide.

In the super-midsize segment, the G300 will face competition from aircraft such as the Bombardier Challenger 3500, the Cessna Citation Longitude, and the Embraer Praetor 600. Each offers cabins for eight to twelve passengers with ranges of roughly 3,000 to 3,500 nautical miles. Gulfstream is positioning the G300 as a step up in cabin comfort and flight deck technology within this highly contested market.
