flydubai signs MoU for 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft

flydubai has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Boeing for 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with options for 75 more, during the third day of the Dubai Airshow 2025.

The signing ceremony took place at the airshow in the presence of flydubai chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO Stephanie Pope and flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith.

The agreement, valued at around $13 billion at list prices, reinforces the airline’s long-standing partnership with the US manufacturer as it accelerates its growth strategy.

The MoU covers 75 firm aircraft across the 737 MAX family and includes purchase options that could bring the total to 150 jets. flydubai said the agreement gives it the flexibility to match capacity to demand across its expanding network in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and Asia.

Boeing remains central to fleet strategy

The commitment follows flydubai’s first Airbus narrowbody deal, announced on November 18, 2025, for up to 150 A321neo aircraft. While that agreement marks the airline’s move toward a mixed narrowbody fleet, flydubhai emphasized that the 737 MAX will continue to form a cornerstone of its operations.

The airline currently operates 96 Boeing 737s, including 66 737 MAX 8s and three 737 MAX 9s, and it has 30 Boeing 787-9s on order for delivery from 2026, which will support its planned long-haul expansion.

Supporting Dubai’s long-term growth

Sheikh Ahmed said the MoU reflects Dubai’s ambition to grow its aviation sector and ensure airlines are positioned to meet future demand. The additional 737 MAX aircraft will support flydubai’s network development and its role in the long-term expansion of Dubai World Central, which is intended to become the world’s largest airport.
