UAE flag carrier Emirates has just announced at the
Dubai Airshow 2025 that it has added another eight examples of the Airbus A350-900 to its large and diverse order book. The deal, which is valued at $3.4 billion in terms of list prices, will see these aircraft powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB84 engines.
Accounting for this latest order, Emirates has now committed to a grand total of 73 Airbus A350-900 jets, of which 13 have already been delivered to the widely revered Dubai-based airline. Earlier this week, the Middle Eastern carrier made headlines with an even bigger order for 65 examples of the Boeing 777-9.

As previously mentioned, Emirates has taken delivery of 13 aircraft from what is now a total commitment to 73 examples of the Airbus A350-900. According to present fleet data made available by ch-aviation, these modern widebody twinjets are by far Emirates’ youngest aircraft, clocking in at an average age of just 0.5 years old, compared to a fleet-wide mean of 15.5 years. Data from aeroLOPA shows that they have three classes of travel.
In both configurations, there are 32 business class seats, while one layout has space for 21 premium economy and 259 economy guests, and the other can seat 28 premium economy and 238 economy passengers. According to Cirium, an aviation analytics company, Emirates’ top route with the A350 this month connects Dubai International Airport (DXB) with Kuwait (KWI) – the carrier flies the type twice a day on this Middle Eastern corridor.

This week has already been a significant one for the Airbus A350-900 at Emirates, with Monday seeing the type fly in formation with the airline’s A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft for the first time, as pictured above. Even in its relatively short time at the airline thus far, the type has been credited, as Al Maktoum puts it, with having “enabled [Emirates] to introduce [its] latest inflight products to more customers, including Premium Economy.”
With the carrier also having benefited from additional capacity following the introduction of the Airbus A350-900, Al Maktoum adds that Emirates is “looking forward to working closely with Airbus on the delivery of our remaining aircraft, including the new units that we have ordered today.” Rolls-Royce also welcomed the deal, with Regional Customer SVP Omar Ali Adib saying that it is “a testament to the confidence in the Trent XWB-84.”
Emirates and Airbus have a working relationship that goes back a long way. With this in mind, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, the European planemaker’s EVP for Sales of Commercial Aircraft, said that his company is “looking forward to supporting Emirates as it expands its operations with one of the world’s most modern widebody aircraft in the market.” He added that the Airbus A350-900 “continues to set the benchmark for long-haul travel.”

Emirates Orders Eight More Airbus A350-900s
Wednesday, November 19th, 5:25am EST | 2:25pm Local
Having long since relied on Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft as the backbone of its fleet, recent times have seen
Emirates diversify its operations with the introduction of the Airbus A350-900. This next-generation widebody twinjet will now play an even greater role at the Dubai-based UAE flag carrier going forward, with the airline having announced today that it has put its name down for another eight examples of the type.
Combined with its order for 65 more Boeing 777-9 jets from the upcoming 777X family, Emirates has committed to $41.4 billion (in list prices) worth of new aircraft at the 2025 Dubai Airshow. The Airbus A350-900s from the order announced today are set to be powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB84 engines, with their deliveries provisionally pencilled in to take place during 2031. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Emirates’ Chair and CEO, said:
“Together with the additional Boeing 777-9 order announced earlier this week, Emirates now has a total of 375 units of the latest widebody aircraft on its orderbook. This is a massive investment in our future.”
