Embraer and the Colombian Aeronautical Industry Corporation (CIAC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that could expand industrial cooperation between the Brazilian aerospace giant and Colombia’s state aviation manufacturer.
The memorandum of understanding, signed at the FIDAE air show in Santiago, Chile on April 8, 2026, outlines potential collaboration across Embraer’s product lineup. This includes the A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft and the KC-390 Millennium military transport.

Fabio Caparica, Vice President of Contracts at Embraer Defense & Security, said the agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two companies. “Our goal is to further strengthen the Colombian aerospace industry and evaluate opportunities to integrate CIAC into Embraer’s global production chains,” Caparica said.
Colombia, for its part, sees the agreement as a path toward building up its domestic aerospace capabilities and gaining a foothold in international supply chains. Colonel Oscar Francisco Zúñiga Martin, President of CIAC, called the deal a strategic move for the country’s aviation sector.
“This agreement allows us to advance in the transfer of knowledge, the development of technical capabilities and the integration into global value chains, contributing to the growth of the sector and the positioning of Colombia as a regional benchmark in maintenance, innovation and aeronautical development,” Colonel Zúñiga Martin said.
Colombia is already a significant market for Embraer. The company has 50 aircraft operating in the country across its defense, commercial, and executive aviation segments. That fleet includes 24 A-29 Super Tucanos flown by the Colombian Aerospace Force.
