Chinese advanced air mobility developer EHang has unveiled its latest electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, the VT35.
The new model was shown airborne in a social media video on October 13, 2025, ahead of an official presentation in Hefei, China, where EHang has established a new industrial base for the aircraft.
The company described the VT35 as a “next-generation long-range pilotless passenger eVTOL”. It appears to be an evolution of the earlier VT30 demonstrator, first unveiled in September 2021, and which introduced fixed wings to improve endurance compared to the company’s original multicopter concept.
According to EHang, the VT35 is designed for cross-city, over-water, and mountainous routes, signaling ambitions for longer-range regional operations.
The Hefei municipal government confirmed in August 2025 that the city will host the headquarters, production facilities, and test operations of the VT35 series. The project represents a total investment of RMB 1 billion ($140 million), with up to RMB 500 million ($70 million) in government support through orders, investments, and supply chain cooperation.
Building on EH216-S commercial groundwork
The unveiling follows a landmark year for EHang’s commercial efforts. In March 2025, the company announced that its subsidiaries, Guangdong EHang General Aviation and Hefei HeYi Aviation, had received Air Operator Certificates (AOCs) from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), enabling passenger flights with the EH216-S eVTOL.
The EH216-S became the first pilotless passenger eVTOL authorized for commercial operations, operating in limited contexts such as sightseeing flights and demonstration routes. The VT35 now aims to extend this certified foundation toward higher-capacity and longer-range applications.
