From 2017 (YouTube Edition): ADS-B For Airplanes And Drones… ADS-B technology developed by uAvionix has come full circle. The company began with a device developed for manned aircraft, scaled that down for the drone market, and now has scaled back up with a new device for manned aircraft with the Echo UAT system. Ryan Reed, director of Communications and Support for uAvionx, told ANN news editor Tom Patton at Sun ‘n Fun in April that the early devices were heavy and used a lot of power, which is not ideal for small UAVs. So they made the devices smaller, lighter and more efficient for use on drones.
