As of Friday, October 17th, IndiGo has finalized a firm order for 30 additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, ultimately converting a June Memorandum of Understanding and lifting its Airbus A350 backlog up to a whopping 60 jets. These moves chart a path toward a world of long-haul flying for the Indian budget airline. The carrier’s CEO, Pieter Elbers, ultimately said that the deal supports his airline’s goal of becoming a global player by 2030 and aligning with India’s aviation hub ambitions. source
Earlier this month, SWISS International Air Lines (SWISS), a member of the Lufthansa Group, took delivery of its first Airbus A350-900. The jet, registered HB-IAF, has been named Lausanne and features a special wanderlust-themed livery. It officially entered service yesterday, on October 25, operating its maiden flight from Zurich to Palma de Mallorca. The first Airbus A321XLR for private Uzbek carrier Qanot Sharq has been spotted as it left the paint shop at the Airbus Finkenwerder facility, near Hamburg, Germany, where it is being readied for delivery. Some images of this aircraft, already in Qanot Sharq’s blue and white livery and sporting a logo promoting its home country of Uzbekistan, have emerged on social media.
