For much of the last decade, Airbus it has proudly marketed its A350as the XWB (eXtra Wide Body), claiming the crown for the most spacious and comfortable twin jet. The XWB branding was intended to differentiate the A350 from Boeing’s highly successful 777-300ER, which has become the backbone of many long-haul fleets worldwide. With the A350’s slightly wider cabin, quieter environment, and modern composite structure, Airbus was confident it had carved out a niche as a leader. However, Boeing wasn’t willing to concede that ground for long, and the launch of the 777X represented a direct answer to the A350’s…
Airbus delivered 73 new aircraft to 41 customers in September 2025, making it the best month for deliveries so far this year. This was also the manufacturer’s best September on record, far outpacing the 50 aircraft it delivered in the same month last year. Monthly deliveries also increased by 12 frames over its delivery figures from August. Airbus needs this boost after a slow first half of the year, which has put it at risk of missing its 2025 goal. The primary reason is that it has been plagued by supply chain issues, with persistent engine delays from both Pratt…
Boeing is poised to secure antitrust approval from the European Union for its $4.7 billion acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems, according to reports published by Reuters. This is contingent upon the manufacturer’s decision to sell Spirit’s Airbus-related business and divest its sites in Scotland, Malaysia, and Belfast. The European Commission is set to release its decision on this matter officially on October 14. The United Kingdom cleared a deal without conditions in August. Boeing announced this specific transaction back in July 2024, announcing that it would be bringing the supplier back in-house and begin tightening quality control across its product lineup…
The Boeing 737 family is one of the most prominent series of aircraft in the world. The newest generation of aircraft, the 737 MAX series, represents a new generation of narrowbody aircraft. The 737 MAX combines greater fuel efficiency with lower operating costs, directly competing with the Airbus A320neo family. Even so, the 737 MAX has found a role in global airline fleets around the world. Specifically, major carriers such as Ryanair and Southwest Airlines are prominent operators of the Boeing 737 MAX. For low-cost carriers with vast short-haul networks, the 737 MAX is a compelling choice for upgrading their…
The aircrew of UPS Airlines flight 5X-259 called the tower with slat issues on approach into Cologne Bonn Airport (CGN). Once on the ground, they discovered that two pieces of metal alloy had come off the plane as it was landing. According to a short incident description from the Aviation Herald, the pilots landed at a higher than normal airspeed due to the slat malfunction caused by the missing panels. It’s believed the parts were lost within a 10-mile radius of the airfield. UPS’s Veteran Freighter Credit: Shutterstock The jet in question is a Boeing 767-300F registered as N393UP, serial number…
The A350 is Airbus’s latest and greatest creation. While manufacturers tend to refresh their designs across multiple decades, the A350 is a clean-sheet aircraft intended to rival the Boeing 787 in terms of technological innovation. The two aircraft are both majority carbon-composite, equipped with the most advanced high-bypass turbofans in the widebody market and the most passenger-friendly cabins of any twin-aisle aircraft. These two are known for their high ceilings, large pivot-style overhead bins, and a lower cabin altitude. Both companies also advertised that their newest planes came with larger windows, allowing passengers throughout the entire cabin to catch a…
On Sunday evening, October 5, a United Airlines passenger was arrested after attempting to open a cabin door while the aircraft was taxiing at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The incident occurred shortly after United flight 788 arrived at the airport around 18:30. The attempt was unsuccessful but caused the Boeing 737-800’s emergency slide to deploy. Houston police identified the passenger as 20-year-old Arturo Martinez of Edinburg, Texas. He is now facing charges of criminal mischief in connection with the incident. No injuries were reported, and passengers were later transported by bus to the terminal. United Airlines Passenger Arrested After…
A Los Angeles-based startup wants to make same-hour global delivery a reality using spacecraft. Inversion Space revealed its Arc spacecraft on October 8, 2025, describing it as the world’s first orbital delivery vehicle. The company says Arc could drop up to 500 pounds of cargo to almost any point on the planet in less than an hour. The idea sounds like science fiction, but Inversion insists it’s within reach. The spacecraft will sit parked in low Earth orbit with its pre-loaded cargo, waiting for a signal to re-enter the atmosphere and parachute to its destination. That could be a battlefield,…

Air traffic control towers have been in the headlines this year, likely more than anyone (both in the industry and travelers alike) would have wanted them to be. A tragic accident in understaffed air traffic control areas near Reagan National Airport (DCA) and a series of dangerous air traffic control blackouts at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) have been quick to concern everyone with a love for commercial aviation. Maintaining safe air traffic control management systems has been a critical catalyst for the continued growth of the commercial aviation industry. With continued bullish growth on the horizon, weak air traffic…
