Propulsion technology has steadily evolved over the past century, starting from piston engines all the way to the present era of turbofan jet engines. But innovation is always taking place behind the scenes, and the industry could be on the cusp of introducing a new form of propulsion that uses hydrogen as its primary fuel source. While hydrogen engines have already been in development for years, they are still a long way off from being ready for widespread commercial use. Leading enginemaker Rolls-Royce is pursuing its own hydrogen engine designs and recently patented a fuel system for a gas turbine…
The US Air Force has awarded Boeing a contract for additional MH-139A Grey Wolf helicopters on October 8, 2025. The new total number of MH-139As under contract is now 34. According to the Defense Post, Boeing has delivered 18 to date. The newly purchased helicopters will be assigned to Minot Air Force Base (AFB) in North Dakota. The USAF’s Wolf Pack Credit: US Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) flights are progressing for the MH-139A program as the fleet gets close to Initial Operational Capability (IOC). Very few airlines continue to operate the Boeing 737-700 today, primarily because the jet is an outdated model which offers relatively low capacity and weaker seat economics than other members of the Boeing 737 family. Southwest Airlines, however, is a major exception to this rule. The carrier relies heavily on the Boeing 737-700 for a handful of reasons, starting with the fact that it offers the ideal sweet-spot gauge for the airline’s high-frequency, medium-haul network. The lightweight and nimble member of the Boeing 737 family preserves the airline’s single-type efficiency (as it only operates Boeing 737s) and its performance on…
Florida-based charter operator Verijet has entered Chapter 7 bankruptcy, bringing a quiet end to one of the most ambitious attempts to reinvent short-haul private air travel around a single-engine jet and a promise of cleaner, more sustainable flying. Court documents show the company listed between $1 million and $10 million in assets and up to $50 million in debts at the time of its bankruptcy filing on October 9, 2025. The filing follows months of lawsuits from customers and vendors and comes a month after the death of Verijet founder and CEO Richard Kane, who suffered a heart attack while…
Pyka today announced plans to develop the DropShip, a hybrid-electric uncrewed aerial vehicle, and rebrand its all-electric Pelican cargo drone as the first generation of the DropShip. The Pelican, which has a range of about 200 miles, was designed for short-range, high-frequency operations before the rebrand, while the DropShip extends the range of its heavy-lift […] source
European aerospace manufacturer Airbus recently opened its second Airbus A320-family final assembly line in Mobile, Alabama on Monday, October 13. The Airbus North America CEO was quick to share his belief that this new site would, in his eyes, allow US Airbus A320 output to double over time. This new line supports Airbus’ ramp towards operating 75 narrowbody models per month by 2027, and it complements an imminent expansion into Tianjin, China as part of the airline’s efforts towards a US-China balancing act amid geopolitical tension. The airline’s Mobile campus is also marking 10 years of production, having grown from…

The flag carrier of the United Kingdom, British Airways, enjoys the benefits of being the largest carrier at one of the world’s most congested airports, London Heathrow. From here, it operates a robust network of domestic and international services with its range of aircraft. One of the aircraft that has filled the gap between the Boeing 767 and Boeing 777 is the 787 Dreamliner. British Airways has a fleet of 253 active aircraft in October 2025, with another 77 on order, according to ch-aviation. The airline operates a fleet of all Airbus narrow-body aircraft, in addition to the Airbus A350-100…
An A-10C was spotted with two Shahed-type UAS shapes painted on the nose while returning to its home base. An A-10C Thunderbolt II of the U.S. Air Force was spotted with two interesting kill markings while returning home from its latest deployment in the U.S. CENTCOM (Central Command) AOR (Area of Responsibility). In fact, the aircraft was painted with two Shahed-type UAS shapes on its nose, together with other kill markings and an Ares (the Greek God of War) figure. These markings appear to be the first confirmation that the Warthog (as the aircraft is nicknamed within the fighter pilot…
