South Korea has officially kicked off the acquisition phase for six additional maritime patrol aircraft (MPA), jets which will help it expand its coverage beyond the P-8A fleet that the nation already operates. Boeing is in the works to pitch more P-8A Poseidon aircraft, while Embraer is offering up a new Embraer E190-E2 MPA concept and studying a larger C-390 MPA aircraft. Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) is floating a solution based on the Bombardier Global 6500, which would localize these mission systems and allow the South Korean government to purchase these aircraft from a domestic manufacturer. A decision is expected…

If you fly in first or business class, it’s normal to receive a hot towel, either one or multiple times per flight. However, sometimes I just can’t wrap my head around how people choose to use them. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in hot towel autonomy, and I’m not judging. I just want to understand the logic, similar to how I’d love to understand the thought process of people who swerve through Miami rush hour traffic in their Dodge Chargers, only to not actually get ahead of those people who aren’t driving like idiots. I digress… The practice of…

Alaska Airlines is expected to begin service from both Burbank and Orange County to Honolulu. This is according to Ishrion Aviation, which is a reliable source for not-yet-announced new routes. Aside from running daily on the Boeing 737 MAX 8, additional details (start date, schedule, operating periods, fares, etc.) are currently unknown. They’re part of a raft of other routes that the oneworld member is due to reveal. They will partly materialize because of Hawaiian Airlines’ ownership by the Alaska Air Group. Of course, Burbank and Orange County are known for their short runways, at 6,886 feet and 5,700 feet,…

It’s unfortunate that this happened, but it’s an important reminder for people that you should never, ever do this… Never share airline ticket or boarding pass details online! You should never post identifying details about your travels online, especially when it comes to airline tickets, and especially prior to travel. This includes posting anything that shows your airline confirmation code, your frequent flyer number, a boarding pass barcode, etc. Why? Well, keep in mind that if someone has your airline confirmation code and last name, that’s typically enough to make changes or cancel your ticket. As much as we’d like…

President Zelenskyy and Swedish PM Ulf Kristersson have signed a deal which clears the way for Ukraine to acquire between 100 and 150 Saab Gripen fighter aircraft. One part of the agreement confirms Ukraine’s intent to modernise and expand its air force with potentially over 100 Saab Gripen multirole fighter aircraft. This would represent Sweden’s largest ever export order, and see the Ukrainian Air Force operate a similar number of…

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on October 22, 2025, finalized rulemaking called Modernization of Special Airworthiness Certification — better known as MOSAIC — signifying a sweeping update to the light-sport aircraft (LSA) category and sport-pilot privileges after more than a decade of discussion and debate.   The rule was signed in mid-July 2025 and unveiled publicly during the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025 airshow, marking what regulators call the most significant regulatory overhaul of recreational aviation in more than 20 years.  Under the revised regulations, sport-pilot certificate holders will gain access to a far broader range of aircraft and privileges than previously permitted. For example, the old 1,320-pound maximum takeoff weight limit for light-sport…

As everyone knows, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines are the US’s Big Three operators. In November/December, Cirium Diio data shows they’ll collectively have 278 daily international long-haul departures. They’ve increased from 258 in those months in 2024. With 45% of the services, United is by far the leading carrier. Delta is second (31%), followed by American (24%). Compared to last year, all three airlines have slightly more services. United stands out, with its offering up by 13% year-over-year. This might mean excessively high capacity, especially in November, which is among the worst months of the year for…
