What are the world’s most profitable airlines? The answer to that is complicated by a range of factors. Profits can vary significantly from year to year and can be sensitive to currency movements. It also depends on what one counts as an airline. For example, does one count British Airways, or International Airlines Group (IAG), of which British Airways is a part? Additionally, some airlines may have a higher total profit, while smaller airlines may have a much larger profit margin adjusted for their revenue. This article will include groups (like IAG) and will list airlines based on the group’s…
The Airbus A350-1000 has become one of British Airways’ most important widebody aircraft. The airline first announced plans to order the aircraft back in 2013, and signed for 18 of the type with options for another 18. These jets were primarily intended to replace the carrier’s aging Boeing 747s, as well as some older 767s and 777s, as part of an effort to modernize its long-haul fleet. The UK-based carrier received its first A350-1000 in July 2019 and has since taken delivery of all 18 aircraft. The airline regularly deploys the aircraft on its major transatlantic routes, as well as…

Hello from Iceland (brrrr!), as I just flew Icelandair’s Boeing 737 MAX 8 Saga Premium class on the 4hr40min flight from New York (JFK) to Keflavik (KEF). I’m excited to be back in the skies, initially to see Iceland, and then going on wild review trip from there. I hadn’t flown Icelandair in over a decade, and was looking forward to giving the carrier another shot, especially given the amount of fleet modernization we’ve seen. So, how was the carrier’s premium product? I have to say, I really enjoyed my experience, and I’d gladly fly with the airline again. However,…
