The French Navy will officially become the first European military operator of the Pilatus PC-24 after signing a lease agreement with Jet Aviation. On October 29, 2025, Jet Aviation announced the company had purchased three PC-24 aircraft to lease to the French Navy after being contracted by the Direction de la Maintenance Aéronautique (DMAé). The agreement includes Jet Aviation providing sustainment support of the aircraft for the duration of the contract. “It has been a privilege to work together with the DMAé and Pilatus on the selection and acquisition of the new fleet of PC-24 for the French Navy,” says…
Enginemakers form a critical part of the aviation ecosystem, providing the engines that power commercial aircraft. Engines are the single most valuable component on an aircraft, and their efficiency can make or break an aircraft’s profitability. As it stands, the global aircraft engine market is dominated by four companies, namely CFM International, General Electric, Pratt & Whitney and Rolls-Royce. While there is no single manufacturer that can claim to dominate the engine market, different companies can lay claim to being the leader in their segment. For example, CFM International (which is a joint venture between General Electric and Safran) and…
Boeing has reported a $4.9 billion charge in its Q3 2025 earnings because of delays in the 777X program, which significantly contributed to the company’s losses this quarter. In its financial report for the third quarter of 2025, released on October 29, 2025, the aircraft manufacturer reported a loss of $7.14 per share according to standard accounting and $7.47 per share on a core basis, primarily due to the $4.9 billion charge from the 777X program, which added approximately $6.45 to the loss per share. “While we are disappointed in the 777X schedule delay, the airplane continues to perform well…
BRUSSELS (AP) — The United States has informed its NATO allies that it will scale back its troop presence along Europe’s eastern border with Ukraine as it focuses on security priorities elsewhere in the world, Romania’s defense ministry said on Wednesday. The U.S. Army later confirmed the move, but denied it was a sign of lessened commitment to NATO.Depending on operations and exercises, around 80,000-100,000 U.S. troops are usually present on European soil. Turbulence has become an increasing issue in the world of commercial aviation in recent years, with research suggesting that the effects of climate change may prove to further worsen the problem going forward. With this in mind, airlines all around the world are investing in solutions that help them mitigate the effects of turbulence for the safety of their passengers and crew. One such airline is Dubai-based UAE flag carrier Emirates, which, earlier today, shared details of its various new initiatives that it is implementing in order to allow it to be able to better deal with unexpected lumps and…
Emirates has reached a significant milestone in Kenya, marking 30 years since its first flight touched down in Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in October 1995. Since then, the Dubai-based carrier has transported more than 6.6 million passengers to and from the country across over 34,250 flights. Emirates currently operates two daily Boeing 777 services to Nairobi, linking the city with over 145 destinations across the globe. The service has since become a vital trade and tourism route, with passengers from Asia, Australia, and North America making up a significant portion of travelers passing through Kenya’s capital. According to…
President Donald Trump’s decision to shift the nation’s most advanced aircraft carrier to South America in his campaign against drug cartels is pulling the ship out of the Mediterranean Sea at a time when a tenuous ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has been threatened by new strikes in Gaza. The U.S. is set to be in the fairly unusual position of having only a single aircraft carrier deployed and none in the waters off both Europe and the Middle East. The change is especially stark after the U.S. joined Israeli strikes on Iran in June and has engaged in some of…
On October 31, the UK will say goodbye to its last scheduled passenger Boeing 747 operation. Korean Air uses the 747-8i from Seoul Incheon to London Heathrow. Cirium Diio data shows that passenger 747s had just 49 UK services in 2025. Of course, the country still has multiple freighter services. As of October 29, the latest information is that the jumbo will not return to the UK later in 2025 or next summer. However, this may certainly change. After all, the SkyTeam member is used to regularly altering its plans. The ongoing merger with Asiana may affect it. I’ll keep…
