I’m not a huge fan of airline confrontation videos that are posted on social media with little context, which tell one side of the story. However, I do find police body cam footage of airport situations to be quite interesting, given that we get a sense of what really happened, and they often give us a glimpse into parts of airports we might not otherwise see. Along those lines, here’s an interesting video about a situation that unfolded at a Frontier Airlines check-in desk. While the video is titled “Entitled Brat Attacks Airline Employee After Missing Her Flight,” I think…
BERLIN – Russian provinces will henceforth be assigned a “dronification” score by the country’s Ministry of Industry and Trade in an effort to boost the development of unmanned aerial vehicles across all of Russia. The score will be calculated based on ten criteria identified as crucial in successfully developing drone capabilities, including the availability of relevant infrastructure, access to dedicated financing, and the number of full-time drone operators working within the region.Starting next year, participating in the scoring will be mandatory for all of Russia’s constituent parts except what the Kremlin calls the “new regions” – the unilaterally annexed parts of…
Recent years have seen biometrics play an increasingly important role in commercial aviation, with the use of smart cameras expediting procedures such as check-in and boarding while also ensuring contactless processes. Emirates has now become the latest airline to invest in such technology, following its announcement that it has installed more than 200 biometric cameras. These are located throughout its Terminal 3 home at Dubai International Airport (DXB) in the United Arab Emirates, and the carrier has teamed up with the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigner Affairs Dubai (GDRFAD) to make it happen. Emirates says that passengers can register…

Cathay said that the initiative represents its strategic effort to build interest in aviation among Hong Kong’s younger generation at a time when the city urgently needs to develop its future workforce. Hong Kong is facing one of the world’s fastest demographic shifts, with 36% of its residents are expected to be 65 or older…
This is purely speculation on my part, but am I the only one who thinks this will finally be the week where our aviation ecosystem in the United States “breaks,” and that will move the needle with the government shutdown? United States aviation is reaching a breaking point The government in the United States has now been shut down for 33 days and counting, with no end in sight. So while most federal workers still have to go to work, they’re not getting paychecks. That’s perhaps not a huge deal for those with a safety net, but with two-thirds of…
KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Ukraine has received more American-made Patriot air defense systems to help it counter Russia’s daily barrages, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, as Russian drones killed a man and injured five of his family members, including two children, in the latest nighttime attack.Russia’s relentless pounding of urban areas behind the front line following its full-scale invasion of Ukraine nearly four years ago has killed thousands of civilians. It has also targeted the energy supply to deny civilians heat and running water in winter, as well as disrupt industrial production of Ukraine’s newly developed drones and missiles. The sophisticated Patriot…
