Honeywell has appointed Jim Currier as the new President and CEO of its Aerospace division, which is set to become an independent, new company in the second half of 2026. The announcement comes as the company is in the midst of splitting into three distinct publicly listed entities, a move that was initiated nine months ago in February 2025. Under this plan, Honeywell’s Automation, Aerospace, and Advanced Material divisions will each become an independent business. In a statement issued on November 3, 2025, the company also mentioned that Craig Arnold has been chosen to be the Chairman of the Honeywell Aerospace…
While Virgin Atlantic’s route network is heavily focused on transatlantic flights, the airline is launching a couple of new routes to Asia. Several months ago, Virgin Atlantic announced plans to launch flights to South Korea. Oddly the flight was put on sale, and then the flight was pulled shortly thereafter, leaving many to wonder what was going on, or if the airline was having second thoughts (it wouldn’t be the first time — just take a look at the planned Sao Paulo service). Well, this flight is now once again on sale (with a different schedule), so let’s cover the…
United Airlines has revealed that a new loyalty offering comes in the form of what it is calling a ‘Debit Rewards Card.’ While carriers all around the world have long since offered their frequent flyer the chance to collect points on credit card spending, the ability to do so is something of a novelty. The carrier has also devised a launch offer to further incentivize early spending. The card will be available to the airline’s MileagePlus loyalty members and frequent flyers, offering them a convenient way to earn points on their everyday spending without the stipulations that would normally be…

An OMAAT reader asked me a simple question about what the best resource is for looking up passport and visa requirements for travel by country. There’s a simple answer, though I realize I’ve never explicitly written about this, so I figure it’s worth a post… Use IATA’s Timatic system to look up country entry requirements The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has the Timatic tool, which always has the most up-to-date details on entry requirements for various destinations. This is the same system that airline representatives use to verify your travel eligibility, so you’re going straight to the source when…
Swiss has taken the drastic decision of grounding its entire Airbus A220-100 fleet amid ongoing engine issues with Pratt & Whitney Geared Turbofans. The carrier has operated the A220 the longest as it was the launch customer for the type back in 2016, when it was still known as the Bombardier CS100. And while this segment of the fleet consists of “only” 9 aircraft, it’s more negative news for the troubled engine. source
The Trump administration may temporarily close the entire US aviation system if the current government shutdown, now in its second month, makes air travel unsafe. “If we thought that it was unsafe [to travel], we will shut the whole airspace down,” US Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Sean Duffy said in an interview with CNBC on November 3, 2025. “We won’t let people travel. We’re not there at this point. It’s just significant delays.” As the US government shutdown reached day 35 on November 4, 2025, air traffic issues have already caused widespread delays and cancellations at major US airports. Flight tracking…
While it is common practice in the Aviation Industry for freighter jets to remain operational much longer than passenger jets, and for passenger jets to occasionally have their lives extended by being converted to freighter jets, it is rather uncommon for a much older generation of aircraft to remain in production. The case in point, Boeing still produces the 767F aircraft at its facility in Everett, north of Seattle. While the aircraft proved popular in passenger and cargo variants, Boeing ceased production of the passenger version over a decade ago. The 767F has been superseded by newer-generation aircraft, and even…
By Tom Batchelor Nov. 04, 2025, © Leeham News: Embraer reported record third-quarter revenues and reaffirmed its full-year 2025 financial and delivery guidance on Tuesday, even as profits softened compared with the previous quarter. The Brazilian aerospace manufacturer said its 3Q25 results remained strong across its commercial, executive, and defense segments, underscoring continued momentum despite well-documented challenges, in the form of tariffs and supply chain delays. The company reported revenues of $2 billion in 3Q25, an 18% year-on-year increase and the highest third-quarter figure in its history. The performance was fuelled by a 31% jump in Commercial Aviation revenues and…
