Tim Clark, who has served as the President of the Middle Eastern airline since 2003, claims that other carriers have used Emirates’ reliance on the A380 as a weapon against it. Specifically, Clark, via a podcast, alleges that US airlines and the Star Alliance effectively sabotaged the A380 by not buying it. The goal: To force Airbus to cease production of the type and thus weaken Emirates. Quite the allegation! source

The Boeing 777X has attracted attention not only for its folding wingtips but also for the immense power behind them. That power comes from the General Electric GE9X, an engine so large it could easily fit the entire fuselage of a regional jet inside its fan diameter. The engine represents the latest evolution of GE’s high-bypass turbofan design and marks a new era of performance and sustainability in aviation. Its combination of size, technology, and efficiency has reshaped what airlines expect from next-generation long-haul engines. Understanding what makes this engine a “monster” means looking at the innovation that lies inside…
Designing a new airplane is a time-consuming and methodical process. It took Boeing nearly a decade to design the 787, and it took Airbus nearly 15 years to design the A380. Testing is one of the most time-consuming processes when developing a new airplane. The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires new airplane designs to undergo rigorous testing before their first flight. Ground vibration tests, for instance, are necessary for airworthiness certification. Only airplanes that have passed a ground vibration test can be certified and, thus, authorized to fly. What Is a Ground Vibration Test? A ground vibration test is…
