Hilton has just officially announced its newest luxury property that’s in the pipeline, and it’s one that I’m excited about. Waldorf Astoria brand coming to Greece in 2029 The Waldorf Astoria Scarlet Bay is expected to open in 2029, as part of a management agreement with the UAE’s Royal Group Holding. The property will be located in the Peloponnese, on a peninsula in southern Greece, and it’ll be the brand’s first property in Greece. The property will boast 121 guest rooms and suites, all with sea views, in addition to branded residences across 13 villas. The resort is also expected…
It has long been known in the aviation industry that Singapore Airlines is one of the best airlines and has some of the best cabin crew in the world. It is known for its customer service excellence, iconic uniform, and Singaporean hospitality. The airline won the SKYTRAX World Airline Awards ‘World’s Best Cabin Crew’ for 2025, but what makes them top of the cabin crew league? Singapore Airlines is the flag carrier of Singapore and has its base at Singapore Changi Airport. It has received the World’s Best Airline award five times. The airline just missed out on the ‘World’s…
Beond Airlines launched operations in 2023, and it brands itself as the world’s first premium leisure airline. The company is headquartered in Dubai, but primarily operates flights to and from the Maldives. I reviewed the airline last year, and the onboard product was super pleasant. A lot about the company seems questionable, and it’s hard to make sense of what’s going on at the airline, as it sometimes pauses commercial flying for weeks at a time. This spring, the airline announced it would add 18 new destinations in 2025 and 2026, despite not having any more planes on order (at least as far…
As the United States crawls towards a potential end to the government shutdown, the US aviation sector has been taking a beating. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) ordered a reduction in flight capacity at 40 major airports across the country, starting from Friday. As that order has gone into effect over the past few days, thousands of flights have been canceled and tens of thousands more have experienced severe delays. The most impacted carrier thus far has been Delta Air Lines, which has seen more than 1,500 flights canceled since Friday. But it is the regional carriers across the US…
In a recently released video, the United Aircraft Corporation showed off T-50-9 carrying weapons in its internal bays during rehearsals for Dubai Airshow. Russia’s UAC (United Aircraft Corporation) has released new images of the T-50-9 – the eighth prototype of the Su-57 stealth fighter – showing the aircraft in flight with its weapons bays open. The photos, shared via UAC’s official Telegram channel as part of a promotional album ahead of the Dubai Airshow (Nov. 17–21), mark the first time that official imagery of the Su-57’s internal weapons bays has been made public since its first flight over 15 years…
Economist Noah Smith took to Twitter/X to share his awful connection experience at London Heathrow Airport, and suggests his experience is reflective of the UK being a “failing formerly-developed country.” There’s only one problem with his logic… Traveler shares awful Heathrow connection experience There’s a social media post getting quite a bit of attention where a well known economist/blogger shares his awful experience connecting at Heathrow, while flying from Dublin (DUB) to Paris (CDG) via London (LHR). Let me just share the (lengthy) post in its entirety: Today, I made the mistake of flying from Dublin to Paris via London’s…
United Airlines (NYSE: UAL) has asked a San Francisco federal judge to dismiss a proposed class-action lawsuit against the carrier, claiming it charged extra for window seats that lacked windows. United has argued that the terminology of “window” seat denotes a seat positioned on the side of the fuselage, and that it in no way guarantees a view on its own. United has argued that court rulings and federal law generally bar passenger breach-of-contract suits over ancillary fees. The plaintiffs, who are represented by law firm Carter Greenbaum, seek millions in damages and estimate more than 1 million customers per…
An operational GJ-11 was shown for the first time flying with a J-20 and J-16D for the PLAAF’s 76th-anniversary. An operational GJ-11 was shown for the first time in the PLAAF’s (People’s Liberation Army Air Force) 76th-anniversary microfilm titled “Far-Reaching Dreams”, in which it was seen collaborating with a J-20 and J-16D. The GJ-11 UCAV (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle) has already been shown in graphics operating alongside the J-20, but these are the first images of the actual aircraft flying together. Xuanlong 08 and Weilong 01 In the video, the GJ-11, with the callsign Xuanlong (lit. Mysterious Dragon) 08, is…
YouTuber Josh Cahill is one of the most controversial aviation vloggers. He prides himself in his independence and lack of bias, though in reality, he just creates completely unnecessary (and often dishonest) drama seemingly where he goes. So while we’re very used to him calling out airlines and accusing them of things, one government is now hitting back at him, and it’s kind or refreshing to see, as flagged by View from the Wing. Josh Cahill accuses Air Côte d’Ivoire of downgrade & scam A couple of weeks ago, Josh Cahill reviewed the inaugural Air Côte d’Ivoire flight from Paris…
Florida-based ultra-low-cost-carrier Spirit Airlines could have its days numbered as the airline’s finances continued to raise serious doubts about whether it will be able to sustain operations for the long term. The bright yellow airline is easily recognisable at airports across the United States, and is renowned for its no-frills approach, charging passengers for the likes of larger carry-on bags, seat selection, meals, drinks, and checked baggage. Spirit recently refiled for Chapter 11 protection in August, with the expected losses for the airline forecast to surpass $804 million this year alone. Taking into consideration the bank balance since 2020, it…
