Ryanair’s most recent financial results help highlight that profits are rising by an astronomical 40% as Europeans are increasingly opting for closer-to-home holidays at sunny destinations across Europe. Costlier flights across the North Atlantic to the United States, trips that are increasingly politically fraught, are becoming more unpopular than ever. This drastic demand shift has helped lift average fares and load factors on flights all across Europe, as well as on some Ryanair services to North Africa. The airline has also benefitted immensely from earlier-than-forecast deliveries from Boeing. These allowed the airline to add seats rapidly to its most popular…
The United States government shutdown that stretched a record 43 days moved toward its conclusion on November 13, 2025, after the House of Representatives voted 222–209 to approve a funding bill that will reopen federal agencies through January 30, 2026. The legislation, already passed by the Senate, now goes to President Donald Trump, who is expected to sign it. The vote ends the longest federal funding lapse in US history and restores pay to hundreds of thousands of federal workers, including air traffic controllers and Transportation Security Administration personnel. The aviation system, one of the sectors hit hardest during the shutdown, will not return to…
After flying in Etihad’s A380 The Residence, I connected onto an Aer Lingus flight from Paris (CDG) to Dublin (DUB). I flew Aer Lingus’ AerSpace product on the A321LR, which might just be the best value premium product in Europe (since you get a flat bed, and it’s only marginally more expensive than economy). While I’ll of course publish a full review, in this post I’d like to talk a bit about the boarding process of this flight, which was unlike anything I’ve seen before. It wasn’t a big deal at all, I’m just curious if anyone has theories as…
Several foreign airports have US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance facilities, where you clear immigration prior to boarding your US-bound flight. I recently flew Aer Lingus from Dublin (DUB) to Boston (BOS), and Ireland is the only country in Europe to have such a facility. I’ve been through these facilities several times before, but there were a couple of things I found strange, and I’m curious if anyone has any insights. At US Preclearance facilities, it’s common to have to clear security through a dedicated checkpoint before you pass through US immigration. These security checkpoints are typically separate from…
This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available. The House of Representatives voted to pass a funding package to officially end the government shutdown late Wednesday. The historic measure, sent to President Trump for final approval, paves the way for airlines to resume normal operations and essential airport workers to receive long-awaited paychecks. Senate Democrats and Republicans first agreed on the months-long bill on Sunday before it moved to the House. The record shutdown, which has become the longest impasse in US history, led to a…

Yesterday I shared the spat that airline vlogger Josh Cahill is having with Air Côte d’Ivoire. While I appreciate his stated purpose of holding airlines accountable, there’s no denying that trouble follows Josh wherever he goes. Along those lines, I just received an interesting email, and I’ll leave it to y’all to decide what I should do with this… Josh Cahill’s personal assistant sent me a sassy email On my post yesterday about the spat between Josh Cahill and Air Côte d’Ivoire, a frequent commenter wrote the following: I understand that Josh and perhaps others have invited Ben to have…
What are the largest United States Air Force bases by population? It is not possible to give a complete and consistent ranking for the largest airfields by population. In some cases, the number of deployed personnel is not disclosed, and with others, it can vary significantly depending on deployments in that region. The population also varies depending on what is being counted. For example, are only active personnel counted, or also civilian contractors and associated families? Breakdowns in these figures are not always given. This list will provide seven of the largest bases by population, although these may not be…
Electric aircraft manufacturer Beta Technologies began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, in a market debut that gives the company a value of $7.4 billion after its shares opened at $34 each, matching its IPO offer price. Beta’s initial public offering raised $1.01 billion for the company, underscoring investor appetite for electric aviation startups. Founded in 2017 and based in Burlington, Vermont, Beta designs and builds electric aircraft, propulsion systems, and charging infrastructure. Its flagship CX300 ALIA, a fully electric, conventional takeoff and landing aircraft, has completed extensive flight testing in the United States and Europe. Earlier this year, AeroTime met Beta co-founder and CEO Kyle Clark at the…
Given Russian President Vladimir Putin’s aggression in not only continuing the war in Ukraine but also testing NATO’s air and sea space with drones, fighter jets and underwater vehicles, it is time for the alliance to react decisively. Offering empty rhetoric and promises to spend more money on defense will not work short of one crucial factor. NATO needs to apply brain power in developing effective and affordable actions to counter Russia by affecting Putin’s mental processes and “outthink” him. What is needed is a 21st-century version of the 1967 Harmel Report, headed by Pierre Harmel, Belgium’s foreign minister, that…
