Dubai-based Emirates is in advanced talks of placing an order for at least 30 Airbus A350-1000. This order, if it proceeds, could see a massive shift in the carrier’s long-haul fleet strategy, given the airline has previously been highly critical of the aircraft’s engines manufactured by Rolls-Royce. The order could be finalized at the Dubai Airshow 2025, which is scheduled for between 17 and 21 November. Not only has Emirates been critical of Rolls-Royce engines, but also other airlines in the region, such as Qatar Airways, which have both raised issues with the engine turbines, and have been pushing Rolls-Royce…
Now that the U.S. government shutdown has ended, prompt action is needed to restore airline and air cargo operations to pre-shutdown functioning, industry leaders say. Having reopened today following a Nov. 12 vote in the U.S. House of Representatives, the government must work quickly to reimburse federal workers, increase flight capacity and resume export license processing, Brandon […] source

The F-35 Lightning II was used in August 2025 to successfully evaluate three B61-12 test assets during a multi-day test campaign. Sandia National Laboratories and the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) just disclosed that a B61-12 stockpile flight test campaign took place in August 2025. The successful testing was conducted at Tonopah Test Range, Nevada, with support and aircraft generation from Hill Air Force Base, Utah. Stockpile Flight Test Sandia says the tests were conducted on Aug. 19-21, and saw three inert units of the B61-12 nuclear gravity bomb were successfully carried and dropped by an F-35 during that timeframe.…
Joby Aviation has completed the first flight of a turbine-electric autonomous demonstrator aircraft, marking a major expansion of the company’s technology roadmap beyond its long-running all-electric air-taxi program. Joby made the announcement on November 13, 2025, revealing that the aircraft flew for the first time on November 7 at its facility in Marina, California. The milestone comes just three months after the company first revealed its hybrid concept and a new development partnership with L3Harris Technologies. The demonstrator integrates a hybrid turbine powertrain into Joby’s existing electric VTOL platform and is equipped with the company’s SuperPilot autonomous flight technology. Joby says the addition of the turbine generator is designed…
NATO has officially abandoned its plan to acquire six Boeing E-7A Wedgetail airborne warning and control aircraft, with the initiative to do so being led by the Netherlands, which was joined by several other European member states. This decision follows the United States Department of Defense’s withdrawal from the program in July amid cost and survivability concerns. The aging Boeing E-3A Sentry is still in service with many operators, and the aircraft is due for retirement by 2035. The older-generation aircraft continues to face noise issues, and the plane’s maintenance costs only continue to rise. With the E-7A Wedgetail now…

I’ve been blogging for over 17 years now, and there’s no denying that the internet has changed a lot in that time period. The reason I’ve been able to “work” 365 days per year is really because this industry is my hobby and passion, so it never feels like work. But ultimately, this blog is also a business (even though it was never the goal when I started writing it), and the way the internet functions has changed massively over the years. I’m terrible at business and self promotion, because I’d rather spend my time focused on what I love,…
