The US DoT has decided to waive the final installment of the financial penalty worth $11 million, which is part of a $35 million fine that was issued to Southwest back in December 2023. This decision was made after the DoT evaluated the investment the airline has made in the past two years to improve its on-time performance and completion rate, which has shown a noticeable difference in the airline’s operations. As such, the DoT believes it is in the best interest of the public for the airline to invest the remaining amount into further improving its operations rather than…

For most of its 777X testing, Boeing has operated four prototypes. These aircraft are WH001 (N779XW), WH002 (N779XX), WH003 (N77XY) and WH004 (N779XZ). However, in August 2025, a fifth test aircraft entered testing: WH286 (N2007L). This aircraft is a production-standard Boeing 777-9. That means it lacks the complex flight-test instrumentation that can be found on the other test prototypes. That is because WH286 has been designed to be as close as possible to an airline-ready configuration. The limited instrumentation also allows for testing of electromagnetic interference, lightning strike safety, and validating operations in a realistic operating environment. As a result,…

The Boeing F-47 is set to be the centerpiece of the United States Air Force’s Next Generation Air Dominance capabilities, a family of air systems that is still discussed in a binary manner. Public disclosures from Boeing argue that the aircraft is a revolutionary sixth-generation aircraft moving forward at record speed, while other industry observers will take a more pessimistic view. Those in the latter camp have routinely argued that the aircraft is behind its scheduled development schedule. The likely truth is probably somewhere in the middle. The contract for the Engineering and Manufacturing Development of the model was awarded…
