Flameout Pattern An approach normally conducted by a single-engine military aircraft experiencing loss or anticipating loss of engine power or control. The standard overhead approach starts at a relatively high altitude over a runway (“high key”) followed by a continuous 180 degree turn to a high, wide position (“low key”) followed by a continuous 180 degree turn final. The standard straight-in pattern starts at a point that results in a straight-in approach with a high rate of descent to the runway. Pratt & Whitney announced on April 21, 2026, that it is investing more than $100 million across three of its US maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) sites as it seeks to move geared turbofan engines through its aftermarket network more quickly in a bid to cut turnaround times. AAR has launched an AI-driven procurement platform for airlines and MROs that gives users direct access to Aeroxchange’s network of more than 5,000 suppliers, as the company pushes deeper into aviation software and supply chain tools.   The new platform, called Airvoyant, is designed to automate a parts-buying process that still relies heavily on email requests, manual quote comparisons and fragmented supplier systems.  AAR said Airvoyant lets buyers search inventory, request and consolidate quotes, and move to a one-click purchasing decision inside a single system. Delta TechOps has launched an Airbus A320 component repair agreement with LATAM Airlines Brasil that will route repair work through LATAM’s São Carlos maintenance base in Brazil as Delta expands support for its own fleet and third-party airline customers.
