The US Embassy in Jerusalem is urging non-emergency government personnel and family members to leave Israel while commercial flights are still available. On February 27, 2026, the US Embassy in Jerusalem issued a notice confirming that the Department of State had authorized the evacuation due to safety risks. The advice comes as tensions in the Middle East are on the rise, with potential of a strike on Iran by the US military and concerns that Israel could face retaliatory threats from its neighbor. “In response to security incidents and without advance notice, the U.S. Embassy may further restrict or prohibit…
International Airlines Group (IAG) has posted record profits for 2025, with British Airways and Iberia as its standout performers. If you’ve ever looked out the window while waiting at an airport, you may recall seeing numbers on the runways. Each runway is assigned a unique number. While some people assume these numbers are random, there’s actually a methodical system to how they are assigned. Magnetic Heading Runways are numbered by their magnetic heading. Not to be confused with true heading, magnetic heading represents an object’s direction to the Magnetic North Pole. It’s essentially the angle at which the object, such as an airplane, must turn to point to the Magnetic North Pole. Runways are assigned numbers based on their…
The world of inflight entertainment (IFE) is in a state of flux. Over recent years, the advent of streaming content directly to passengers’ devices and increasingly ubiquitous (if generally expensive) inflight internet connectivity has transformed the way people consume content onboard airliners. However, when it comes to the long-haul, the seatback screen continues to reign supreme. And in the field of IFE, one player has remained dominant: Panasonic Avionics. From its base in California, the IFE arm of the giant Japanese conglomerate, ensures that passengers on some 200 airlines, including some of the world’s largest carriers, can enjoy the latest…

In mid-2023, British Airways’ CEO announced that the airline planned to update the interiors of its Airbus A380s, which is also where we’ll see the debut of the carrier’s new first class suite. 2026 is finally supposed to be the year where we see this project start, so what’s the latest on this? I’d like to take a look at that, as some more details have been revealed over time. British Airways A380s getting new first & business class At the start of the pandemic, British Airways grounded its Airbus A380 fleet, as several airlines did. Fortunately in late 2021,…

As much as we’d hope it’s not the case, stuff does get stolen at hotels somewhat regularly. Sometimes it’s by outsiders, sometimes it’s by other guests, and sometimes it’s an inside job. However, this has to be one of the most extreme — and suspicious — hotel theft situations that I’ve heard about. Couple sues over Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas armed robberyA Michigan couple has filed a lawsuit over an incident that happened in September 2025, during a stay at the Ritz-Carlton St. Thomas, as reported by The Virgin Islands Consortium (thanks to View from the Wing for flagging this). The couple…
The Air France-KLM Flying Blue program is improving its mileage expiration policy, in a way that most members will certainly appreciate.
