US Central Command said three US Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle strike fighters flying in support of Operation Epic Fury went down over Kuwait at 7:03 Kuwait time on March 2, 2026, in what it described as an apparent friendly fire incident. CENTCOM said the fighters were mistakenly shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses during “active combat” that included attacks by Iranian aircraft, ballistic missiles, and drones. Airbus has confirmed that Kazakhstan’s flag carrier Air Astana has placed an order for 25 A320neo family aircraft, its largest ever order with the European manufacturer. The UK’s RAF Akrotiri base in Cyprus was hit by a suspected drone strike shortly after midnight local time, Britain’s Ministry of Defence and Cyprus’ president have said. The incident caused minor damage but no casualties, and appears to be the first publicly acknowledged strike linked to the current Middle East fighting on European soil.
