PARIS — France is working on a “kill web” to connect sensors and weapon systems on the battlefield for faster decision making and firing, similar to Ukraine’s Delta system, according to the head of the French Army’s technical section STAT.The kill web will initially be built around France’s Atlas artillery-weapon system provided by Thales, with the intention to expand “to enable dynamic targeting,” according to Gen. Olivier Coquet, who heads the section, in a briefing with reporters here at the Eurosatory defense show on Sunday. He said the kill web will be part of the broader Arcadia AI-powered battlefield command…

NASA is moving to hire a contractor to assess whether or not a Boeing 737-73W can meet its needs for a new reduced-gravity testbed aircraft. The use of planes modified for this role is now new, and they are often called “Vomit Comets” because of the extreme maneuvers they perform to simulate zero-G environments and the physical side effects this often induces. However, there’s an unusual twist here with the specific plane that NASA is now eyeing: it currently belongs to the…

A novel kind of drone-based air defense system has been shown for the first time by German weapon manufacturer Diehl Defence. The Cobra 600, which has not previously been seen in public, combines a jet-powered drone platform with a missile rail armed with one of the company’s IRIS-T missiles, a weapon already used in short-range air defense systems and air-to-air applications. The new system immediately recalls recent Russian developments, which add short-range air defense missiles to its versions of the Shahed-136 long-range one-way attack drone,…

Bob McTighe, commander of the Sacramento District Army Corps of Engineers.
“The Pentagon’s designation is not the end of this story. It is, if anything, an overdue beginning — a formal acknowledgment that the questions were always worth asking, that the answers always mattered, and that the organizations which tried to ensure those questions were never heard did a disservice to every pilot, every aircraft owner, and every person who trusted them to do their jobs. The aviation community deserved the truth. And, it deserves even more truth. ANN tried to give it to them. We always will.” Source: From ANN E-I-C/CEO Jim Campbell’s most recent Barnstorming editorial dealing with the…
