Abra Group, the parent company of Avianca, GOL and Wamos, announced on October 16, 2025, that it is planning to add up to seven Airbus A330-900neo aircraft to its fleet and firm options for 50 Airbus A320neo aircraft.
These 50 aircraft are additional to the 88 of the same type that the Latin American group has on order, bringing the total to 138 aircraft.
While the A320neos will be assigned to Avianca, the future deployment of the A330neos is not yet clear. In a press release announcing the signature of the deal, Abra Group said the placement of this aircraft within the group will depend on the operational and commercial considerations at the time when the aircraft become available.
The A320neo aircraft will be fitted with Airbus’ signature Airspace cabin, which has many of the latest features the European manufacturer has come up with in the field of cabin ergonomics and passenger comfort, such as extra-large overhead baggage bins and mood-enhancing LED lighting. The front of the aircraft will also be fitted with two-per-side RECARO Premium seats which have been developed specifically for Avianca.
After adding the 96 737 MAX aircraft on order from Boeing, Abra Group’s narrowbody orderbook stands at 234.
The A320neos are expected to start arriving from the end of 2025, with deliveries expected to continue until 2032. However, no specific delivery calendar has been provided for the A330neos.
Although Avianca has long been a Boeing 787 operator, with this order Abra Group reaffirms its pivot to Airbus when it comes to strengthening its future long-haul fleet. This latest deal follows one Abra Group signed with the European aircraft manufacturer during the 2024 Farnborough Air Show for five Airbus A350-900 widebody aircraft.
This announcement follows the confirmation, made the preceding day, of Abra Group’s plans to have an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in the United States. On October 15, 2025, Abra Group stated it had started to file the required paperwork with the Securities and Exchanges Commission (SEC), the US stock market regulator.
Also in the same week, news surfaced regarding Abra Group’s obtainment an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to launch a new airline in Chile, separate from its pre-existing affiliation with SKY Airline, a Chilean carrier of which it is a minority shareholder.
