World Of Hyatt Adds Early Award Night Access For Elites & Credit Card Members

We’ve just seen World of Hyatt make massive changes to its award pricing. While the program is maintaining a published award chart, it’s increasing the range of pricing, meaning that peak season award stays will cost more than ever before.

When these negative changes were announced, Hyatt also teased a couple of positive updates, to be implemented later this year. There’s now an update, as we know the timeline with which the first of these changes will be introduced.

Hyatt free night awards will be available up to 13 months out

For bookings as of June 30, 2026, World of Hyatt will introduce early access to award night availability for select members. Specifically, this will be available to those with a co-branded Hyatt credit card, plus World of Hyatt Explorist and Globalist members (meanwhile Discoverist members won’t get access to this).

The expectation is that these members will be able to book awards one month earlier. So instead of the current window of 12 months, the new window will be around 13 months. Having access to awards earlier is good news, and I suppose it’s a nice incentive to have status or a credit card.

For those curious, here’s how the World of Hyatt terms & conditions have been updated to reflect this:

For Free Night Award or Points + Cash Award reservations made on or after June 30, 2026, Explorists, Globalists, Lifetime Globalists, and primary cardholders of a Hyatt-branded Credit Card (regardless of tier status) will have advance access to booking as compared to other Members.

Eligibility for this benefit is based on tier status at the time of award booking and booking windows are based on the time zone of the applicable hotel or resort.

World of Hyatt will offer award space up to 13 months out

How valuable is earlier access to World of Hyatt awards?

How substantial is this new World of Hyatt benefit, of select members getting access to awards more than 12 months in advance?

For the most part, you shouldn’t have issues finding award availability when the schedule opens. However, for absolute peak season stays, like the Park Hyatt Sydney on New Year’s Eve, or the Park Hyatt Kyoto during peak Cherry Blossom season, this could definitely be the difference between getting access to these awards and not. That being said:

  • Odds are that most people with enough Hyatt points to book a special award also have status or a credit with the hotel program, just based on how people usually go about developing a points strategy (admittedly that’s not always true, given Bilt and Chase transfers)
  • Of course those super in demand stays will now also cost up to 75,000 points per night, up to 67% more than the previous highest cost of 45,000 points per night.
  • Now we can also enjoy staying at properties like the Park Hyatt Tokyo and Park Hyatt Sydney and being told they’re “resorts,” and therefore don’t qualify for perks like Globalist late check-out
This might be useful during some peak season stays

Bottom line

World of Hyatt recently made major award chart changes, which were overwhelmingly negative. The minor good news is that for bookings as of June 30, 2026, select elite and credit card members will get access to award space earlier, up to 13 months in advance.

I don’t consider this to be some sort of a game changer, though it is moderately positive for those with access to the availability, who like to plan in advance.

Separately, as of some point later this year, we should also see World of Hyatt introduce simplified points sharing between members, though we’re still waiting on a date.

What do you make of World of Hyatt extending the award booking window?
