Fiji Airways and WestJet have announced a new codeshare partnership aimed at improving connectivity between Canada and the South Pacific.
The agreement, announced on May 12, 2026, allows passengers to book travel across both airlines’ networks under a single reservation, with seamless check-in and through-checked baggage to their final destination.
How the codeshare works
Under the partnership, Fiji Airways will place its “FJ” code on WestJet’s Canadian domestic network, including flights to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Edmonton International Airport (YEG), Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG), and Halifax Stanfield International Airport (YHZ).
This gives travelers from key Canadian cities convenient connections to Fiji Airways’ international services.
In return, WestJet will place its “WS” code on Fiji Airways’ flights between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Nadi International Airport (NAN), as well as onward connections to New Zealand, including Auckland Airport (AKL), Christchurch Airport (CHC), and Wellington Airport (WLG).
Guests booking WestJet-coded journeys will also be able to earn and redeem WestJet points on their entire itinerary.
Vancouver service expansion
The partnership comes alongside Fiji Airways’ expanded operations out of Vancouver. Starting June 18, 2026, the airline will operate three weekly year-round services between Nadi and Vancouver on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
From September 8, 2026, all Vancouver flights will be operated by the Airbus A350, increasing capacity and enhancing the onboard experience.
A growing market
Demand for travel between Canada and the South Pacific continues to climb. Passenger traffic between the two countries has increased 19% year-on-year, with a significant portion of travelers connecting through Vancouver to Fiji Airways’ broader network across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.
The partnership also reflects strengthening ties between Canada and Fiji. In January 2026, the Canadian High Commission officially opened in Suva, Fiji’s capital, with a focus on economic partnerships and climate resilience.
Paul Scurrah, Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, said Canada represents a growing and high-value market for the region.
“This partnership with WestJet makes it easier than ever for Canadian travellers to experience the warmth, culture and natural beauty of Fiji, while also supporting increased visitor flows into our region,” Scurrah said.
Jennifer Lalonde, High Commissioner of Canada to Fiji, welcomed the development.
“Improved connectivity will make it easier for Canadians to experience the South Pacific, while supporting tourism, trade and people-to-people links that are so important to our relationship,” Lalonde said.
John Weatherill, WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer, said the partnership creates smoother journeys for travelers.
