Transfer Citi ThankYou Points To Qantas Frequent Flyer With 20% Bonus

In the interest of full disclosure, OMAAT earns a referral bonus for anyone that’s approved through some of the below links. Citi is an advertising partner of OMAAT. The Citi ThankYou program is on a bit of a transfer bonus spree at the moment. The program has just launched a new transfer bonus to Qantas Frequent Flyer, which is an offer we haven’t seen in years. Is it worth it, though?

Transfer Citi points to Qantas with 20% bonus

Between October 19 and November 8, 2025, the Citi ThankYou program in the United States is offering a 20% bonus on points transfers to Qantas Frequent Flyer.

Citi ThankYou 20% transfer bonus to Qantas

Ordinarily points transfer at a 1:1 ratio (in 1,000 point increments), while through this promotion you’d get 1,200 Qantas Frequent Flyer points for every 1,000 Citi ThankYou points transferred.

While we see transferable points currencies frequently offer bonuses to various partners, it’s quite rare to see transfer bonuses to Qantas, and it has been years since such an offer has been available from Citi ThankYou.

There are several great cards earning Citi ThankYou points, including the Citi Strata Premier® Card (review) and Citi Strata Elite℠ Card (review), and it’s easy to combine points between the cards.

Should you transfer Citi points to Qantas?

Long story short, I think there’s potentially value to be had with this promotion, but only if you know what you’re doing. Qantas belongs to the oneworld alliance, and also has some other useful airline partners, like with Emirates, among other airlines.

Qantas’ pricing isn’t necessarily that attractive, and there are carrier imposed surcharges. However, with the devaluations we’ve seen at other programs, there are definitely some situations where it’s the best program.

For example, below is the Classic Flight Reward chart, for flights on Qantas, Emirates, Fiji Airways, and American, among other airlines.

In some cases, you might find that this is actually among the best pricing that you’ll find, especially for redemptions on Emirates, given how much less lucrative Emirates Skywards has become over the years (between devaluations to redemption rates, plus devaluations to transfer rates).

So yeah, I absolutely wouldn’t speculatively transfer points, but with a specific use in mind, I think there could be value here.

Redeem Qantas points for Emirates business class

Bottom line

Through November 8, 2025, the Citi ThankYou program is offering a 20% bonus on points transfers to Qantas Frequent Flyer. This is more of a niche program, but with a specific use in mind, there’s a lot of value to be had. In particular, nowadays Qantas Frequent Flyer often has the best redemption rates for travel on Emirates.

Do you plan on taking advantage of this Citi transfer bonus to Qantas Frequent Flyer?
