Lufthansa to launch nonstop Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur flights in October 2026

Lufthansa is launching nonstop flights between Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), marking its first direct service to Malaysia. This will be the carrier’s fourth Southeast Asian destination to its network alongside Bangkok, Singapore, and Phuket.

The new route will begin on October 25, 2026, operating five times a week, daily except Tuesdays and Thursdays, and tickets are already on sale.

Flight LH 704 departs Frankfurt at 21:30 local time, arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 16:40 local time the following day. The return, LH 705, leaves Kuala Lumpur at 23:55 local time and lands in Frankfurt at 06:00 local time the next morning. Both schedules are designed to connect smoothly with Lufthansa’s broader international network through its Frankfurt hub.

The service will be operated by the airline’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, configured with 287 seats across three cabins and fitted with Lufthansa’s new Allegris cabin product, which the airline has been positioning as its flagship onboard experience for premium travelers.

The choice of Kuala Lumpur is grounded in both tourism and trade. Malaysia welcomed 42.2 million international visitors in 2025, making it the most visited country in Southeast Asia that year. On the business side, Germany is Malaysia’s largest trading partner within the European Union, and more than 700 German companies operate in the country, a passenger base that gives the route a strong commercial foundation beyond leisure travel.

With this launch, Lufthansa becomes the only airline from its home markets which span Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, and Italy, to offer nonstop service to Malaysia.
