Six Months To Go
Earlier today, LOT Polish Airlines released a statement confirming that May 6, 2026, will see the carrier commence non-stop flights between Warsaw Chopin Airport and San Francisco International. These services will operate four times a week, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The Wednesday and Saturday rotations will see flight LO37 depart Warsaw at 17:40 and return from San Francisco as LO38 at 22:15.
Meanwhile, the Thursday and Sunday rotations on this route will see flight LO35 depart the Polish capital city at 11:15, with LO36, the return leg, taking off from the ‘Golden Gate City’ at 15:50. Robert Ludera, the Director of LOT’s Network Department, explains that “transatlantic flights are of strategic importance for LOT Polish Airlines,” with “800,000 passengers [flying] on LOT flights between Poland and the US” in the last year. He adds:
“Not only will the new route connect the heart of Europe with the global hub for technology and innovation, but it will also open up new opportunities for both business travellers and tourists.”
What’s It Like Onboard?
LOT’s corresponding statement that it shared with the wider world earlier today confirmed that the Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be the aircraft family of choice for its new flights from Warsaw Chopin Airport to San Francisco. According to present fleet data made available by ch-aviation, the Polish flag carrier currently has eight 787-8s (plus one on order) and seven 787-9s at its disposal, with respective average ages of 11.5 and seven years.
The airline favors a three-class seating configuration on board both of these models. Data from aeroLOPA shows that the short-fuselage 787-8 can seat a grand total of 252 passengers, with this figure split between 18 six-abreast business class flatbeds, 21 seven-abreast premium economy recliners, and 213 nine-abreast economy class seats. While there is no in-flight WiFi, the Thales i8000 system provides gate-to-gate content.
As for the mid-sized Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, LOT Polish Airlines configures these US-made widebody twinjets with a grand total of 294 seats. These aircraft have the same 21-seat premium economy cabin as their smaller counterparts, but the business class section has an extra row of six flatbeds, bringing its capacity up to 24 guests. Meanwhile, these aircraft have 249 economy class seats, with a pitch of 31 inches and a width of 17.1 inches.
LOT’s US Network As A Whole
LOT Polish Airlines’ new non-stop flights from Warsaw to San Francisco will operate on a seasonal basis next summer. Tickets for these services are now on sale via the
The existing five are Chicago O’Hare (ORD), Los Angeles, Miami (MIA), New York JFK, and Newark (EWR). While most of these destinations are served by LOT Polish Airlines flights from the aforementioned Warsaw Chopin Airport, Chicago O’Hare is notable for the fact that it also enjoys non-stop connections to Kraków John Paul II International (KRK).
Located in the south of the country, this airport is the second busiest in Poland, and flights from here to Chicago currently operate weekly. Newark also sees flights from Krakow, but only seasonally.
