flydubai makes first Airbus order with up to 150 A321neos at Dubai Airshow 2025

flydubai has ordered up to 150 Airbus A321neo-family aircraft on the second day of Dubai Airshow 2025, marking the first Airbus purchase in the airline’s history and ending its long-standing reliance on an all-Boeing narrowbody fleet.

The agreement, announced in Dubai on November 18, 2025, includes a mix of firm orders and options. The exact breakdown of A321neo variants has not yet been determined.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2031, positioning the new aircraft to support flydubai’s next phase of network and capacity growth. The order will complement the carrier’s existing Boeing backlog, which includes 737 MAX jets and 30 Boeing 787-9s set to arrive from 2026.

With Emirates locking in a major Boeing 777X order on day one of the show, flydubai’s move gives Airbus a high-profile commercial win on day two. The order adds further pressure on Airbus’ A321neo production ramp, which is targeted to reach 75 aircraft per month by 2027.
