Under the terms of the new codeshare agreement, Condor-operated flights on both new routes will carry Etihad flight numbers. At the same time, Etihad will place its code on selected Condor services. This ensures unified marketing, joint schedules, and seamless passenger experiences across both airlines. Travelers flying with Condor will be able to connect at Etihad’s Abu Dhabi hub with through-checked baggage and coordinated transfers. An Etihad spokesperson commented,
“Germany is a vital market for Etihad, and adding Berlin alongside Frankfurt meets clear passenger demand and strengthens UAE-Germany ties.”
Only The Perks
For Condor, these new Abu Dhabi routes represent a significant strategic milestone. Historically focused on leisure travel, the airline is expanding its long-haul capabilities beyond traditional USA and Caribbean markets. Partnering with a major Middle Eastern carrier for dedicated Gulf operations signals Condor’s intention to grow its intercontinental relevance. The partnership unlocks access to Etihad’s wide Asian and African networks, offering Condor passengers streamlined travel options to countries such as Japan, Thailand, Singapore, the Maldives, South Africa, and even Australia.
For Etihad, the new flights strengthen Germany’s position as a core European market. The airline already operates from Munich and Frankfurt and now gains reinforced capacity through Condor’s additional daily services. Berlin, in particular, is a strategic addition: its thriving tech, tourism, education, and business sectors create a strong two-way demand for direct international connectivity.
The partnership also benefits the airports involved. Frankfurt Airport gains an additional Gulf connection, complementing Etihad’s existing presence, while Berlin Brandenburg benefits from a long-sought return of nonstop Middle East flights — strengthening its growing portfolio of long-haul services.

Etihad Airways’ changes seem to be temporary, with the Abu Dhabi to Frankfurt route returning to double-daily Boeing 787 flights in November.
Building Stronger Connections
Etihad Guest members will have the ability to earn and redeem miles on Condor’s new Germany–Abu Dhabi routes, enhancing the value proposition of the partnership for frequent flyers. For leisure travelers, this also adds an extra incentive to choose the new services for long-distance holidays.
Tickets are already bookable through both airlines’ websites and travel partners, allowing customers to plan their 2026 summer itineraries well in advance. This early availability supports strong forward demand, typical for Middle Eastern and Asian travel markets. Germany has been one of the UAE’s most important European tourism markets, and the addition of direct flights from both Frankfurt and Berlin is expected to stimulate further inbound travel.
Looking ahead, the new routes and the codeshare framework position both airlines for deeper cooperation. With Condor’s modernizing long-haul fleet and Etihad’s global ambitions, the partnership could easily evolve to cover more destinations, offer enhanced schedules, and potentially expand into further joint initiatives.
