Capital One Venture Business Bonus: Two Ways To Earn Up To 150K Miles

Capital One has two Venture-branded business cards. The Capital One Venture X Business is Capital One’s most lucrative business card. The card continues to offer an excellent welcome bonus, so if you’re eligible, it’s a great time to apply.

If the high annual fee turns you off, the lower annual fee version, the Capital One Venture Business, offers an equally compelling welcome bonus. In this post, I’d like to go over all the details of both offers.

Earn 150K miles with the Capital One Venture X Business

The Capital One Venture X Business is currently offering a welcome bonus where you can earn 150,000 bonus Capital One miles after spending $30,000 within the first three months. Admittedly the spending requirement is big, but so is the bonus offer. For what it’s worth, I value Capital One miles at 1.7 cents each, so I’d value this bonus at $2,550.

There are lots of great uses for Capital One miles, as they can be transferred to all kinds of useful airline and hotel partners, or they can be redeemed toward a travel purchase.

Who is eligible for the Capital One Venture X Business bonus?

All card issuers have some general application restrictions. However, Capital One probably has among the fewest consistent restrictions. Specific to the Capital One Venture X Business, the welcome offer on the card isn’t available to those who already have the card, or those who had the Spark Travel Elite Card (which is what this card was briefly branded as) or who have the Capital One Spark Cash Plus (review).

Beyond that, eligibility should be unrelated to having any other Capital One card. You are eligible for the bonus on this card if you have the personal version of the card. Note that while there are similarities between the two cards, there are also some differences.

Why the Capital One Venture X Business is worth it

The Capital One Venture X Business has a $395 annual fee, so it’s among the higher annual fee business cards out there. However, the card offers a variety of rewards, benefits, and perks, that should offer outsized value:

The way I do the math on the card is that I consider the $300 annual travel credit and 10,000 anniversary bonus miles to (more than) cover the annual fee on an ongoing basis, and then everything else is the real value offered by the card. You’re earning a great return on spending, plus airport lounge access.

The cheaper Capital One Venture Business also has a great bonus

It’s worth mentioning that the Capital One Venture Business is another card worth considering. The card has a reasonable $95 annual fee, and also offers a bonus of up to 150,000 Capital One miles, structured as follows:

  • Earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $7,500 within the first three months
  • Earn an additional 75,000 bonus miles after spending a total of $30,000 within the first six months

So the bonus is just as good as on the Capital One Venture X Business, and in some ways is even better, since you can still be rewarded if you don’t reach the $30,000 spending requirement.

You can earn both Capital One Venture Business bonuses

Above, I covered the eligibility requirements for the Capital One Venture X Business. So it’s worth also discussing that when it comes to eligibility for the Capital One Venture Business (including for the bonus), this product is considered separately.

So you could earn the bonus on both cards, and that could potentially get you 300,000 bonus miles. The rewards opportunities there are massive.

There’s huge potential to rack up Capital One miles

Who should consider the Capital One Venture Business instead

While I think there’s merit to picking up both cards, given the incredible bonuses, how should you decide between the two cards in the long run? The Capital One Venture Business has some advantages as well:

  • The Venture Business has an annual fee of $95, so it’s $300 lower than on the Venture X Business
  • The Venture Business offers a minimum of 2x miles on all purchases, making it one of the best cards for everyday spending, with no foreign transaction fees; so in terms of rewards, it’s very similar to the Venture X Business
  • The Venture Business offers a $50 annual Capital One Business Travel credit, a $50 annual credit for qualifying advertising or software purchases, and a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit once every four years, so that’s pretty great given the low annual fee

Personally, I think the annual fee on the Capital One Venture X Business is well worth it. However, understandably many people would rather not pay such a high annual fee upfront, and for those people, the Capital One Venture Business is a compelling option.
