American Airlines Outlines New 3x Daily Regional Flight From Boston & Boosts Core Hub Routes

American Airlines will launch a new regional route between Boston (BOS) and Buffalo (BUF) for the upcoming summer season. Beginning in March 2026, the carrier is scheduled to operate three daily flights on the route, according to the aviation analytics company Cirium.

In addition, Cirium data shows that American will boost capacity at key hubs by adding more frequencies between Philadelphia (PHL) and Atlanta (ATL), as well as New York (JFK) and Phoenix (PHX). Simple Flying has asked American Airlines for comment.

Increased Regional Connectivity: Three Daily Flights

American Airlines is increasing its regional connectivity by adding a new route connecting Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) and Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF). Covering 344 nautical miles (637 km), the route will be served three times per day, using the carrier’s Embraer E175 regional jets.

Envoy Air and Republic Airways will operate these regional flights on behalf of American Airlines under the American Eagle brand. American Airlines’ Embraer E175 has a capacity of 76 seats. With 21 weekly flights, the route will offer a total of 1,596 seats per week. According to Cirium data, the flights are currently scheduled from March through August 2026, though this is subject to change based on the airline’s adjustments.

The first of three planned flights will depart at 7:30 AM, followed by the second at 2:00 PM, and the final at 6:30 PM. The addition of these three flights to American Airlines’ route network will increase competition on the corridor. JetBlue Airways also operates two daily flights between BOS and BUF using its Airbus A220 aircraft.

Increased Presence On The Philadelphia-Atlanta Route

American Airlines is also expanding its presence on regional routes from its core hubs. According to Cirium data, the carrier will add an additional daily flight from its main hub at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL).

Starting in February 2026, American Airlines will operate 35 weekly flights on the route, an increase of seven flights (or 532 seats) per week compared to the previously scheduled 28. This translates to five daily flights instead of four. For now, Cirium data shows that the airline plans to maintain the increased frequency at least through May 2026. The route will be operated by American’s Embraer E175 aircraft, which offers 76 seats.

This 579-nautical-mile route is also served by other US carriers, including Delta Air Lines, which connects Philadelphia (PHL) with its primary hub at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). In addition, low-cost carriers Spirit Airlines and Frontier Airlines also operate on this corridor.

An Additional Flight On The New York-Phoenix Corridor

Cirium data also highlighted changes in flight frequencies on American Airlines’ route between New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX), both of which serve as hubs for the carrier. The Cirium data shows that American Airlines will add one additional daily flight on the route beginning in January 2026, with the schedule running through August 2026.

Previously, the airline had planned to operate 28 weekly flights from January to May 2026 and 21 weekly flights from June to August 2026. However, the carrier has since revised its plans and will instead operate 35 weekly flights from January to May 2026 and 28 weekly flights from June to August 2026, offering 6,020 and 4,942 seats per week, respectively.

Covering 1,871 nautical miles, the direct service between the two cities is also offered by Delta Air Lines and JetBlue Airways. JetBlue deploys its fleet of Airbus A321-200/A320-200 narrowbody aircraft, while Delta utilizes its Airbus A321neo jets.
