June 8, 2026, © Leeham News: In this article in the series about Airbus Next New Aircraft, we will look at the available technologies that we described in Part 3 of the series and how these can fit in a Next Generation Single Aisle (NGSA) that enters into service mid to end of next decade.
Such an aircraft has several important attributes. The airline customers have been very vocal that there can’t be a repeat of the fuel cost down but the same or increased operating costs of the neo/MAX, after re-engining of the present Airbus A320/A321 and the Boeing 737 MAX. Any new engine or other technology must be mature and not have the problems seen in the latest change.
